CURATORIAL

STATEMENT
In multicultural Singapore, one might wonder if there is a national attire or a particular look that represents the city. In search of an answer, we turned our attention to a tangible aspect of fashion — the craft of making clothes. This exhibition explores the modes of craftsmanship practised by Singapore fashion designers, running the gamut from tailoring and embroidery to laser-cutting and 3D printing.
SECTION 03
We wish to highlight the diverse approaches of the designers, each drew from the rich heritage of fashion and craft in Singapore and Asia.
Through conversations with them, we dove into their processes and memories to discover what informs their practices. In doing so, we began to piece together a snapshot of what makes up Singapore fashion today.
