Singapore, 2021
Collection of Jon Max Goh
This look is part of Goh’s winning collection State of Becoming for Singapore Stories 2021. It is a response to the competition’s provocation to envision the Singapore fashion identity as a smart nation that embraces technology and innovation. Goh used digital prints and soft textures to create a futuristic look that takes cues from the form of the kebaya, after a visit to the Heritage Conservation Centre during the competition. Goh draped directly on a dress form to create an androgynous silhouette that challenges the conventions of gendered clothing.
