Ave, Regina Coelorum was inspired by the idea of daily rituals from Yeo’s memory of his mother’s relationship with Catholicism. From there, he delved deeper into the journey of a pilgrim – a devotee who embarks on a journey for religious reasons. This led him to create a garment that functions as a portable praying altar, by using an upcycled wooden block that hangs at the wearer’s front, supported by linen fabric draped around the neck. Yeo further emphasises the religious inspiration by knitting in rosary beads that make up a rosary onto the sleeves of the garment.
Born and raised in Singapore, Bryan Yeo is currently pursuing BA (Hons) Fashion Design with Knitwear at Central Saint Martins in London. Informed by the nostalgia of his past experiences, Yeo approaches fashion design from a deeply personal perspective.
